Blue-tifully Stenciled!

Cutting Edge Stencils Shares Blue Stencil Ideas for Walls and Home Decor Accessories

Not to long ago, Cutting Edge Stencils chatted with you about Stenciling Happy, stencil colors that could make happy, sad, or in some cases slightly agitated (yikes!).  It was then that we mentioned that Blue is the easiest color for the human eye to look at in a space.  This peaceful color evokes a sense of calmness and serenity, making it a great choice for bedrooms, home decor accessories and even furniture!

From turquoise to sapphire to navy, the stencil color blue can be the calming color of a mellow summer sky or the deep, velvety hue of a magical midnight dream. Light blues confer tranquility and serenity, while deeper tones are regal and uplifting colors that can take away your “blues”.  Whether you’re stenciling an accent wall or an accessory, blue is the perfect color to turn to because there’s a shade of blue that will get you the look that you want. Consider ‘blue’ to be everybody’s best friend!  Take a look at a few of our favorite blue stenciled projects…

Let’s start small with blue home decor accessories. If stencilin’ blue has you thinking nautical then our small Fish Fossil Stencil is the perfect pattern choice for a pillow.  Nautical home decor is all the ocean rage and Diane, from Necessary Nuisance, crafted the perfect pillow.  Use a hue similar to Benjamin Moore’s utah sky 2065-40, a bright blue that evokes the beauty of a cloudless, crystal-clear sky. Adorable, right?

From pillows to diy art, we love the pop of blue in a room!  Cris, the talented blogger behind Crissy Crafts hosted a Make A Wish Party for her daughter.  Our Dandelion Stencil served as the perfect pattern inspiration.  Her main eye candy was this pretty flower painted on foam board to serve as backdrop art.  To get this blue look, try using Benjamin Moore’s turquoise haze 2060-70.

Feeling the appeal for teal but not ready to make the leap and stencil your walls blue?  There will be no need to after seeing this crafty furniture makeover from Sheila at Furniture Alchemy!  She upcycled an old piece of table using our Birds of Paradise Stencil in a refreshing teal hue.  Use a color similar to Benjamin Moore’s teal tone 663.  A rich mid-tone teal, this saturated shade evokes the cool, serene waters of the Caribbean.  Gorgeous, right?!

Now we mentioned that blue is best suited for a bedroom and we weren’t kidding!  We’re just loving the evening sky blue in this pretty bedroom.   DACH Design painted a bold hue similar to Benjamin Moore’s twilight blue 2067-30 and then added the glossy Rio Allover Stencil above the bed.  The beautiful lace-like pattern creates a visual headboard!
